Program Highlights
Elevate Omaha is excited to invite young adults aged 16-25 to apply for the Next Generation of Leaders (ENGL) cohort 2, our exciting new initiative dedicated to empowering the leaders of tomorrow.
Our first ENGL cohort graduated and they told us they weren't ready to stop. So we're building on what they started.
In this next cohort, we will select up to 40 passionate young people ready to develop their leadership skills, build authentic relationships, and become active changemakers in their communities. Young adults are often not taken seriously or recognized as the leaders they are, and Elevate Omaha is committed to changing that narrative. Through ENGL, we equip and hone leadership skills while cultivating authentic relationships and building a supportive, empowering community.
Based on direct feedback from our first cohort, we're deepening the experience: the group will now meet twice a month, on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays from 6:00-7:30 PM. One meeting each month brings the full cohort together; the other is dedicated time in smaller project groups, going deeper on the work that matters most to each team.
Applications close September 4, and applicants will be selected and notified by September 11. Orientation is September 22.
Leadership Growth
Engage in monthly meetings focused on a diverse range of impactful topics, such as Nebraska’s legislative sessions, mental health awareness, coalition building, professional development, and finance. These meetings occur on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, from September through June, at 6:00-7:30 PM.
Community and Collaboration
Develop strong connections with peers through shared experiences and collective learning, fostering lifelong friendships and collaborations.
Impactful Projects
Participate in one of three key projects, amplifying your voice and skills:
YPAR Research — Lead youth-driven participatory action research exploring what leadership development looks like for young people.
Civic Engagement — Work alongside community leaders to identify and advocate for a policy issue the group decides matters most..
Executive Committee — Help lead ENGL itself, shaping the direction and experience of the cohort as part of the group's executive committee.
